Uncover scientific secrets for one night only at the Natural History Museum

- Science Uncovered, the annual after hours science extravaganza, returns to the Natural History Museum on Friday 28 September from 16.00 - 23.00 with free entry
- Talk to the Museum's world-class scientists about the burning issues in science today, or simply relax and unwind with a drink at the Science Bar in the grand setting of the Museum's Central Hall
- Get hands-on with our science activities for a glimpse of life behind-the-scenes at our world-leading Museum and science research facility
For one night only, over 350 scientists and visiting experts will emerge from behind-the-scenes to unveil their cutting-edge research and highlight the important role it plays in society today. Visitors can take part in over 200 free, innovative activities, and the evening will also provide visitors with a chance to see rare and precious specimens.
Further highlights include:
- Science Bar - from questioning environmental challenges, to understanding the under representation of women in science, visitors can quiz scientists over a cocktail in the Museum's Science Bar, or simply relax and unwind in the grand setting of the Central Hall
- Forensic science - try your hand at evidence collection and processing to determine the post mortem interval, and discover how forensic anthropologists can help identify victims by examining only their bones
- Stamped on science - follow the trail for a chance to win tickets to Science under the covers, an exclusive sleepover for grown ups at the Museum at the end of October
- Secret specimens - come and see some of the Museum's rarely exhibited and precious specimens and understand how they are contributing to important scientific research today
- Science Fight Club - can GM food feed the world? Should we eat tuna? Museum scientists will go head-to-head to explore some of the hot issues of the day and to highlight why scientific research is so important to life on earth
- Science stations - get up close and personal with groundbreaking science at the Museum's science stations. Learn about the Tissint meteorite or hear about field research in Antarctica, and find out about our origins as well as the plants and animals in the world's forests, oceans, and coasts - there is something for everyone
- Exclusive behind-the-scenes tours - discover the stories of the Museum's famed collections and take a guided tour behind-the-scenes to get a glimpse of life in different departments in one of the UK's largest museums
Space is limited for some activities and free tickets for certain events will be available on the night on a first come first serve basis.
