Spinnovation Biologics introduces new Elemental and Trace Metals Analysis for Cell Culture Media

To offer a more complete analysis platform for cell culture, Spinnovation introduces new Elemental Analysis for cell culture media and raw materials. Elemental Analysis uses Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) to test samples for up to 30 elements and trace metals, at levels as low as parts per billion (ppb). With this service Spinnovation enables customers to characterize raw materials and monitor the elements critical to cells, for maximum cell culture production yield and optimal performance.

Elemental Analysis is a flexible custom analysis service, tailored to clients’ needs. Each customer may select the elements to be monitored in groups of up to 25. Elemental Analysis can be used to monitor both standard and trace level elements. Analysis is charged competitively on a pay-per-sample basis. Moreover, Spinnovation provides quick turnaround, with results typically delivered within 10 business days. This new offering complements the analysis packages already available at Spinnovation to develop troubleshoot and monitor bioprocess, including Spedia-NMR™, vitamin analysis and different raw material profiling assays.

Frederic Girard, CEO of Spinnovation Analytical, said, “Elemental Analysis adds to our advanced cell culture analysis offering, by allowing customers to quickly assess levels of elements vital to cell growth in cultures and to troubleshoot bioprocess performance variability. Together with Spedia-NMR™ for upstream processing and Spedia-Predict™ for achieving optimal and consistent bio-manufacturing performance, Elemental Analysis will allow us to meet all the needs of customers in the biologics field.”
