Ocean Lab Services

New Ocean Lab Services offering provides feasibility testing, expertise in experimental design, and consultation capabilities.

Ocean Optics, the applied spectral knowledge company, has introduced a lab testing and application consultation service. Ocean Lab Services combines the company’s world-class facilities, machine learning capabilities and decades of experience in optical sensing applications to provide a range of services for various customer application needs.

Ocean Lab Services range from basic feasibility studies to more complex offerings including experimental design, machine learning and consultancy. Powerful new machine learning and custom algorithm development capabilities offer another level of insight for more complex challenges where spectral data is turned into the answers customers need.

Ocean Optics has long partnered with customers in taking on measurement challenges, with tens of thousands of applications enabled using the company’s spectrometers, multispectral sensors and fiber optic chemical sensors. The Ocean Lab Services team has experience in various techniques and methods including UV-Vis and NIR spectroscopy, Raman and SERS, multispectral sensing, optical oxygen and pH sensing, and custom software and machine learning. Customers have taken advantage of Ocean Lab Services for diverse projects ranging from classification of copper alloys to quality control of catheters.

Customers can select from several Lab Services options. The standard (fixed price) option is best for basic sample testing, either to prove feasibility or to determine the optimum system for the application. For more complex application challenges, the Lab Services team can evaluate and design custom systems or collaborate with in-house engineering teams on integration projects, training and design studies. For customers dealing with massive or complex data sets, the machine learning option includes custom algorithm development services. Based on multi-model machine learning, this option is ideal for advanced identification and quantification.
