Thermo Fisher Scientific has developed a high-performance liquid chromatography (LC) method that simplifies determination of clenbuterol, ractopamine, and phenolethanolamine in meat using on-line solid-phase extraction (SPE) and ultraviolet absorbance detection.

Application Brief (AB) 154: Rapid and Sensitive Determination of Clenbuterol, Ractopamine, and Phenolethanolamine in Meatdemonstrates that this method, performed using a dual rapid separation LC system controlled by data management software, achieves method detection limits equivalent to those obtained by mass spectrometry (MS).
